Beaufort County Engineering personnel will provide an update on the 2018 One Cent Transportation Sales Tax Projects during the Public Facilities and Safety Committee meeting on Monday, August 19, 2024. The meeting will be held in the County Council Chambers, 100 Ribaut Road, Beaufort, SC, beginning at 3 pm. You may attend in-person, or the meeting may be watched live on The County Channel, Comcast Channel 2, Hargray Channels 9 and 417, and Spectrum Channel 1304, or by a link on the website. Beaufort County hosted a Public Meeting on Thursday, June 24, 2024, from 5-7 pm at the St. Helena Branch Public Library for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive Sidewalk, one of the 14 priority locations as approved in the 2018 One Cent Sales Tax Referendum. Staff presented the proposed right of way design for the 5’ sidewalk on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive from US 21 (Sea Island Parkway) to Jonathan Francis Senior Road. The meeting was conducted as an informal, drop-in format.

Beaufort County hosted Public Meeting on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 5-7 pm at the Lady’s Island Middle School Gymnasium, 30 Cougar Drive, Lady’s Island, SC for the Lady’s Island Middle School Access Road and Airport Frontage Road – Phase 2. Staff presented the proposed designs for the new roadways which include bicycle/pedestrian accommodations for both projects.

Beaufort County hosted a Public Meeting on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 5-7 pm at the Lady’s Island Middle School Gymnasium, 30 Cougar Drive, Lady’s Island, SC for the Meridian Road Pathway and Middle Road Sidewalk. Staff presented the designs for the proposed 10’ multi-use pathway project on Meridian Road from Lady’s Island Drive to Sea Island Parkway and the proposed 8’ sidewalk on Middle Road from Walnut Hill Street to Sam’s Point Road.

Beaufort County Councilmember Mark Lawson hosted a Public Meeting on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Bluffton Recreation Center for Alljoy Road Pathway, one of the 24 locations as approved in the 2018 One Cent Sales Tax Referendum. Councilmember Mark Lawson and other representatives presented the summary for the Alljoy Road Pathway Virtual Public Meeting.

The Alljoy Road Pathway is a proposed 8’ pathway along the entire corridor. The pathway improves pedestrian and bicyclist safety by providing a separate facility from the roadway.  Conceptual exhibits and other project information are still available on virtual meeting webpage.
